Ecosystem Design for Multiple Services – with emphasis on Boreal Forests in Eurasia International Conference at the Forest Technical Academy in St. Petersburg/Russia 9-11 November 2011

Boreal Forests in Eurasia

Fossil reserves may provide short-term financial benefits, forest ecosystems are essential for long-term human survival and well-being. The area covered by Russia's forests extends over one thousand million hectares representing more than one fifth of the world's forest cover. International meetings with professional input from Russian and foreign experts, have the potential to make a significant contribution to technical and policy development in this globally important region. The objective of the Conference is to bring together expertise relating to the sustainable use of the Eurasian Boreal Forest Resource. The central theme of the conference is Ecosystem Design for Multiple Services, but other relevant themes may emerge during the preparation of this event.

 Presentation Formats

Oral . 15 to 20 minute oral presentation. Final time frame dependent on number of accepted papers and program space.
Poster. Posters will be displayed for the duration of the Conference. Each poster will be allocated a 1 metre wide x 2 metres high panel and the poster must fit within this area.

 Materials of the conference will be published in 2 formats :
Abstracts (will be published before conference) and materials (will be published after conference, with editing) The Scientific committee will perform review and recommend papers for oral or poster presentation. The Scientific committee will allocate papers to the program taking into account the quality of each paper and the balance of the program. Recommended papers will be included in the Conference proceedings.

 Conference fees
The Conference fee (to be decided later) includes publications, field trip to the Lindulovskaya larch forest (November 11), conference dinner, two lunches and coffee/tea Visa
All foreigners with the exception of CIS-country citizens need a visa to enter Russia. In order to receive the visa, please follow the above communicated link for registration (will be soon in the web-site). The Russian travel agency "Favorit" will issue a voucher for obtaining visa on the basis of your registration.
